El Lugar is home to a rich biodiversity of plant and animal life amidst its 1,200 acres.  Within the North Atlantic Biological Corridor and alongside the Braulio Carrillo National Park, we are nestled in the microclimate of the Rainforest, 600 feet above sea level.  Where the north and south migratory patterns of birds meet for the Western hemisphere.  It is home to the ideal climate and food supply for myriad rare species.  Our reforestation efforts have been met with the return of species like the Great Green Macaw as well as newly identified species that had never before been discovered.
